Over time sensor technology has become more sophisticated. As the scope of applications widens, non-contact temperature sensors have become the preferred technology for moving, inaccessible and hygienic processes or applications often required in for instance the printing, environmental and medical industry. A high degree of accuracy is demanded in order to not only increase the quality of the outcome but also to reduce waste and even speed up processes.
A variety of factors will influence the choice of infrared non-contact sensor like target temperature range, target material, target size, target distance and ambient temperature. In order to keep increasing the accuracy of the sensor without exploding the price, a company needs to explore different paths, like Exergen Global did. With partners they designed a transmitter capable of fully calibrating their IRt/c sensors to unprecedented accuracy of 0.1 °F or 0,1 °C by custom calibration over a very specific range. This transmitter, called AutoSmart, not only delivers accuracy that is multiple times better than standards on infrared sensors with the same output, it also provides a unique repeatability of +/- 0.02°F (0,01°C) .
By using Exergen’sAutoSmart transmitter solution, OEM’s and system integrators can automatically calibrate sensors themselves at their own manufacturing site. It is a given that this easy to use solution, will take into account the ambient temperature. The flexibility of working with the AutoSmart is that you can choose from:
1. two global standard current output being 4-20 mA, 0-20 mA
or
2. four global standard voltage outputs being 0-10V, 0-5V, 0-2.5V and 0-1V
“Ease of use, flexibility, cost efficient are all necessities needed to meet the expectation level of our customers worldwide. When we held a survey amongst our customers, we received a clear understanding of their needs. Of course, it did not surprise us as we understand that they will always look what can be better, faster whilst staying competitive in the cost experience. To meet all these criteria is of course the real challenge. We introduced in Q1 this year which is of course not the best timing as COVID19 hit the world pretty bad. But we are very hopeful as the feedback we received is more than positive”, said Bram Stelt, CEO of Exergen Global.
